Right now, I’m reading The Library Book by Susan Orlean and M is reading Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff.
Our favourite conversation topic, one of them at least, with friends is ‘book-talk'. We’ve had some fantastic recommendations and often leave the dialogue feeling that there are previously unknown worlds of wonders newly accessible to us. There are few things more magical than when we are both engrossed in a book. It’s a big relief for the animals in our home, and even our home itself, when the running around, making and doing are done for the day and we finally snuggle down and immerse ourselves in stories outside our own.
I’m a quarter through the The Library Book and oooohhhhh it’s so good! Mark has barrelled through Lovecraft Country and I have a feeling he’s going to be pretty sad once it’s finished.
I just finished reading the cookery book Round to Ours by Laura Jackson and Alice Levine, which I thoroughly enjoyed even though it is definitely not vegetarian (and I definitely am vegetarian). I found that there were enough veggie-based choices going on that it kept my grain-brain interested.
And up next?
Well I’m really excited to read the cookbook, Green Burgers by Martin Nordin. I’ve had it smiling at me from our Kobo for a month or so and I’m eager to dig in and eat our way though all his culinary secrets. Plus the photography. It’s very seductive.
M is just about ready to dive into To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini. He read and enjoyed The Expanse series by James S A Corey, which he finished last year and he says this looks like it has a similar feel. Fingers crossed.
What are you reading now? Any recommendations? What type of books do you enjoy?
